Ingredients

  • 4 pieces skin-on chicken thighs pat dry before seasoning
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon garlic minced or powdered
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil or cooking spray to help crisp the skin
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice or vinegar optional, for brightness
  • salt and pepper to taste

Equipment

  • Air Fryer To cook the chicken thighs to a crispy finish
  • Small Bowl To mix honey mustard sauce
  • Brush or spoon To coat the chicken with sauce and oil

Method

  1. Pat the chicken thighs dry with paper towels to ensure crispy skin. Season both sides with salt and pepper.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together honey, Dijon mustard, garlic, and lemon juice or vinegar if using to create the honey mustard sauce.
  3. Lightly brush or spray the chicken thighs with olive oil or cooking spray to help crisp the skin.
  4. Preheat the air fryer to 380°F (193°C).
  5. Place the chicken thighs skin-side down in the air fryer basket in a single layer without overcrowding. Cook for 10-12 minutes.
  6. Flip the chicken thighs and brush with half of the honey mustard sauce. Continue cooking for another 8-10 minutes until internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).
  7. Remove the chicken from the air fryer and brush with the remaining honey mustard sauce.
  8. Let the chicken rest for 5 minutes before serving to allow juices to redistribute for moist, tender bites.
  9. Serve with your favorite sides and garnish if desired.

Notes

  • Patting the chicken dry before cooking ensures crispy skin.
  • Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket to allow even cooking.
  • Brush remaining sauce after cooking for extra flavor and moisture.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • To reheat, use oven or air fryer to maintain crispiness.
