Ingredients

  • 4 salmon fillets fresh or thawed if frozen
  • 3 tablespoons white miso paste
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger grated
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • fresh cilantro chopped, for garnish
  • sesame seeds for garnish

Equipment

  • Mixing Bowl For preparing the miso ginger glaze
  • Skillet or Grill Pan For cooking the salmon
  • Tongs For flipping the salmon fillets
  • Basting Brush For coating the salmon with glaze

Method

  1. In a mixing bowl, whisk together miso paste, grated ginger, honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and sesame oil until smooth.
  2. Pat the salmon fillets dry and coat them generously with the glaze. Let sit for 5-10 minutes.
  3. Heat a skillet over medium heat. Place the salmon skin-side down and cook for 3-4 minutes per side, basting with extra glaze.
  4. Let the remaining glaze reduce slightly in the pan, then spoon over the salmon.
  5. Serve immediately with sesame seeds, fresh cilantro, and a side of rice or vegetables.

Notes

  • For a spicier kick, add red pepper flakes or a drizzle of sriracha.
  • Use fresh miso paste for the best depth of flavor.
  • If using frozen salmon, thaw completely and pat dry before cooking.
