Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef (80/20) for juicy burgers
  • 8 ounces mushrooms sliced
  • 4 slices Swiss cheese for melting over the burgers
  • 4 buns burger buns soft and sturdy for holding all the fillings

Equipment

  • Skillet For sautéing the mushrooms
  • Grill or Skillet For cooking the burger patties

Method

  1. Season the ground beef with salt, pepper, and any additional seasonings you prefer. Form the beef into 4 patties, making them slightly larger than the buns to account for shrinkage while cooking.
  2. In a skillet, melt a tablespoon of butter and sauté the mushrooms over medium heat until they’re golden and tender, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Cook the patties on a grill or stovetop over medium-high heat for 4-5 minutes per side, or until they reach your desired doneness. Place a slice of Swiss cheese on each patty during the last minute of cooking to allow it to melt.
  4. Toast the burger buns lightly. Assemble the burger by placing the cooked patty with melted cheese on the bottom bun, topping with sautéed mushrooms, and adding your favorite condiments. Place the top bun on and serve immediately.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, try adding caramelized onions or crispy bacon to your burger.
  • If you prefer a different cheese, try Gruyère or Provolone for a different taste.
  • Toast the buns for a bit of crunch, preventing them from becoming soggy when filled with juicy burger and mushrooms.
