Ingredients

  • 1 pound beef sirloin or flank steak thinly sliced against the grain
  • 1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning store-bought or homemade
  • ½ teaspoon salt adjust to taste
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper adjust to taste
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch for coating the beef
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil for cooking
  • 1 large red bell pepper sliced into strips
  • 1 large green bell pepper sliced into strips
  • 1 small onion thinly sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 teaspoon hot sauce adjust to taste
  • ½ cup beef broth
  • ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes optional, for extra heat
  • 2 tablespoons chopped green onions for garnish

Equipment

  • Large Skillet or Wok For stir-frying the beef and vegetables
  • Tongs For handling the beef while searing
  • Cutting Board & Sharp Knife For slicing the beef and vegetables

Method

  1. In a bowl, toss the sliced beef with Cajun seasoning, salt, black pepper, and cornstarch until evenly coated.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat. Add the beef in a single layer and sear for 2-3 minutes per side until browned. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add sliced bell peppers, onions, and garlic. Stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until slightly softened but still crisp.
  4. Pour in the beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, and butter. Stir well to create a smooth, flavorful sauce.
  5. Return the cooked beef to the skillet and toss everything together. Cook for another 2 minutes until the beef is heated through and coated in the sauce.
  6. Garnish with chopped green onions and a sprinkle of red pepper flakes if desired. Serve immediately over rice or with your preferred side.

Notes

  • For a milder version, reduce the amount of Cajun seasoning and hot sauce.
  • Leftovers store well in an airtight container and can be reheated in a skillet for best results.
  • Pairs well with steamed rice, mashed potatoes, or inside a warm tortilla for a Cajun-style wrap.
