Ingredients

  • 4 pork chops bone-in or boneless
  • ⅓ cup soy sauce low-sodium recommended
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger grated
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil for cooking
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper freshly ground

Equipment

  • Mixing Bowl For preparing the marinade
  • Skillet or Grill Pan For searing the pork chops
  • Tongs For flipping the pork chops
  • Brush For basting with extra marinade

Method

  1. In a bowl, mix soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, garlic, ginger, sesame oil, and black pepper. Stir well.
  2. Place the pork chops in a dish or ziplock bag. Pour the marinade over them, making sure they are evenly coated. Let marinate for at least 30 minutes or overnight.
  3. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and add olive oil. Remove pork chops from the marinade and place them in the pan.
  4. Sear for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown and slightly caramelized.
  5. Lower the heat and brush some leftover marinade onto the pork chops. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the internal temperature reaches 145°F (63°C).
  6. Remove from heat and let rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For extra depth of flavor, add a dash of red pepper flakes for heat.
  • Marinate longer for a stronger flavor infusion.
  • Pair with steamed rice, grilled vegetables, or an Asian-inspired slaw.
